Latest Customer Q&A
Do you recommend Peugeot Chili Grinders or Spice Grinders for Chili Flakes?
A customer asked which spice grinder would be best for Chilli flakes.
To confirm, the Peugeot Chilli Grinder is designed for whole dried chillis, not flakes and the Peugeot Herb and Spice Ginder is designed for dry leaf herbs and spices. I would not therefore recommend either for chilli flakes.
The CrushGrind spice mills are more forgiving of the kind of spice you use in them. They are more flexible and will tolerate rather more moisture than the Peugeot mills. CrushGrind mills do not perform as well as Peugeot, once the right condiment is in a Peugeot grinder, but the CrushGrind mills are more of a jack of all trades.
So whilst I am not entirely certain that the specific chilli flakes you have will definitely work in a mill at all - the more moist the condiment or spice, the more diffficult it will be to grind and the greater the chance of clogging - I think that the CrushGrind is your best bet. The CrushGrind spice grinders actually have exactly the same mechanism in them as the CrushGrind pepper and salt mills. So if you prefer one of the latter designs, then try them out. You do not need to restrict yourself to the CrushGrind Spice Mill itself but here is the url for it:
